I went today for a walk, and luckily, I had the chance to shoot some photos without feeling uncomfortable. I sat on a bench, and two men came and asked me
Can we play chess here?
And I was so happy that I didn't have to create awkward situations taking photos of them while they were playing, so I said
I love the shot. the one rook is completely surrounded by black pawns, but only after a good space around him, which makes him seem threatening as if even his teammates are frightened of him. Beyond that is the front line of white pieces, defiantly grouped to oppose the black. the composition draws your eyes immeditately to the rook (nice glint of reflection) then to the rest, and the shot of the old man (love the grain) brings it all back into perspective.

I clicked on a link to your blog, saw this series of shots, and thought, wow, I wouldn't doubt that she took these, but they look very professional. The contrast, composition, tones -- everything in this shot, really -- are exceptional.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
